I know, right? I was pretty sure he was wrong, but didn't really know enough to engage. I did a lot of smiling and nodding.

I call it all "optional canon." If I read it and I like it, I'll pick it up. Sometimes I'll only pick up optional canon for a fic or a meta or something and then put it down again. I've gotten very chill on extra-textual canon definitions.
