I should clarify: I am in favor of the profit-system of Dreamwidth and I have noting but strong admiration to the site-owners for their commitment to a ad-free environment. I loved it when I first came over here, and I love it now. My only concern is that it's a such a user-dependent model -- it needs a large enough (and frankly, financially-soluble-enough) userbase for longevity. And I really, really, really want this site to be here for a long time! I'm miserable on all the other fandom blogging platform styles.
I have lots of theories as to why the communities here haven't been as successful, but I'm no expert and most of my friends aren't here. :/ But the community format is absolutely one of my all-time-favorite things about the LJ/DW platform.
I'm interested in lots of things, although here I like fandom stuff -- Torchwood, DC Comics, Inception, The Outsiders, some select manga and anime...um, more? And I adore fandom meta and introspection and "why are we doing this" and squee and critique and all that jazz. (Not, unfortunately, role-playing, which seems to have seriously taken off here.)
