To be clear, I don't need a quarantine hobby or whatever. I don't have the time for it!

AND YET.

...YET.

So I have always wanted to be able to bind my favorite fanfics into books. I mean, who hasn't? It would be so nice to be able to read fic on paper instead of on screens, it would feel all shiny and real, AND I do like doing crafts, actually.

In face, this weekend I dug out my craft box, which is mostly tiny crochet hooks and friendship bracelet string, and I picked a fic I like that didn't feel too long, and...I bound a book.

I mean, this is after months and months of watching youtube videos on book binding and actually picking one of the easiest methods and wasting a bunch of paper figuring out the easiest way to print and using some unused resume paper to pretend I had a "nice" cover. But...it's kind of awesome? And the idea is that it's the first step.

Every book binding online guide I found is about how to make blank sketchbooks, so I'm having a little bit of an adventure trying to figure out how to print books. I've had to borrow tools from L (I didn't want to invest money unless I knew I was going to follow through. I mean, see said Craft Box (TM)) And again, it's not the prettiest or the nicest or anything. It's letter size which is a little clunky to read in real life. But it's MINE, ok.

Now the challenge is to pick the next fic to try. Should this be the biggest challenge? No, of course not. AND YET. COMMITMENT.

That's a fun idea! Never occurred to me - yet in Ye Dark Ages, mimeographed fanzines were the medium for the message.

Books don't need recharging!
