Happy Prompts Time

Whenever I'm blue and want to write but can't (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] nancybrown!) I send out a call for prompts. I'm going to write unbetaed junk for anyone if they want it.

So far I have always filled prompts even if they are horrible and I'll probably do that here as well. No promises on wordcount or anything, but you'll get something!

Prompt for any of my fandoms, including Torchwood, Harry Potter, DC Comics, Vorkosiverse, what have you. More ideas on my profile, although warnings that some of those interests are outdated. You could probably check my LJ tags for more ideas too.

Love your space background!

In fact, in honor of how awesome it is I hereby prompt you- Torchwood: a rift incident causes Ianto to get sent to a space station in the 51st century where he runs into a certain young (and still mortal) time agent.

I don't like it...I LOVE IT!!!

LOL! This is seriously, seriously brilliant!

Historical reenactment for the win! It neatly sidesteps the issue of a pre-Time Agency Jack having a different name by having him "playing" the character of Michael Collins. This way we get a name, but not Jack's real name, which adds to Ianto's confusion and disorientation.

I love the references to "old English" and that Jack wants Ianto to put in a good word with the Time Agency for him about his language skills. I adore the fact that Jack celebrates winning the "Space Race" by snogging a very confused Ianto in victory. But my most favorite bit of all, the part that literally had me squeeing with joy was that you took the rift incident part of my prompt and turned it into "RIFT INCIDENT" with quotation marks and all caps and made it a part of Ianto's archival focused internal monologue!!!!!

Thank you so much!

:D

(Sorry for the repost, I realized I accidentially posted as a separate comment rather than as a reply)

You had a good reason to be excited because you stumbled on an original idea that turned out to be pure comedic genius:D

Seriously, if a random layout inspired prompt gets me something like this, I will prompt you every single time I see a call for prompts on offer!

I don't suppose I could persuade you to write a sequel to this could I? There is just so much potential for a time shocked Ianto to endure more craziness before he goes home. Rather than getting a quick pop back to his time, perhaps he had to wait due to getting caught up in Time Agency red tape:D

Lol!

Honestly, no pressure. The sequel request was meant more as encouragement since I think you stumbled onto something special here, but if this is all you write this is perfect as is:)

:D I saved this up for a virtual victory smoke, so to speak, and it was well worth the wait. I love this trope, and this was a completely unique take on the situation. I grew up around the war re-enactor nutters, and yes, so much makes sense about Jack now.

*applause*
