When I'm feeling down, I like to put out a call for fic prompts, and I jot down quick, unbeted little ficlets in response. I like writing, I like fulfilling prompts, and I find the beta process stressful, so this tends to work as instant happy-making stress relief for me. And hopefully, people like the things I write for them, because making other people happy is like +100 in happiness points.

Anyway, I've decided to finally collect them properly and cross-post them to AO3 and such, so here they are, with only the smallest of edits.

All of the original prompts and responses can originally be found on livejournal.

So, I assume you've all heard about the Wonder Woman pilot, right?

Well, it was all over the comic-newsphere, a little below Thor.

Anyway, everything I heard about the pilot sounded pretty bad. They made Wonder Woman's origin more confusing, made her a winy tween in a woman's body, and somehow decided that making a facebook is some sort of life-affirming event for an Amazonian warrior princess. And the costume was a bit boob-popping.

It did, however, have trousers.

So ignoring all the problems for a moment, I'm actually pretty unahppy that they didn't go through with it. Maybe it would have sucked. Probably would have. But Wonder Woman is a character that is not getting any recognition in mainstream media these days. Batman and Superman have money and franchises and major blockbuster productions. Wonder Woman has some t-shirts.

Marvel is cranking out some good movies, but are they starring women? It's not like The Avengers has a great lady line-up.

Wonder Woman might have been pretty bad. It might have been ok. It might have turned into Smallville, which never really impressed me with quality, but has been successful despite that. It might have turned into Birds of Prey, which wasn't terrible, actually, but wasn't especially successful.

It might have brought new fans to the franchise, to the character. It might have been something a little girl found while channel-surfing, and she might have found a hero to look up to. It might have been seen by enough teenage boys that might have grown up and been inspired enough to try and remake it better. It might have been a cult classic on DVD. Who knows? It might have been a good idea. It might have been a great one. I simply can't agree that a bad Wonder Woman show is worse than no Wonder Woman show. The unseen potential is simply too great.

(Plus, really? Pilots are frequently quite different from the final production. Really, guys.)
