Sleep? Nooooo. INTERNET.
Jun. 30th, 2011 00:28First, I have found the best and only reason to go to Comic Con this summer.
The Shatner has made a film about ALL the Enterprise Captains.
There promises to be Kirk v. Kirk arm wrestling. Someone go to this and tell me about it?
And I've started reading Game of Thrones based on a recommendation I got in Scotland. I'm more than halfway through the first book in under a week of steady reading.
I watched the first two episodes of the TV series, and it is just not as good. Still good, but...Daenerys' story was actually different in the books. The changes were subtle, but important! The book are addictive, but probably not in a fic-generating sort of way. More in a I've-been-falling-asleep-with-the-book-in-my-hands sort of way. And it is quite lengthy.
I consider myself a fantasy fan, but I'm actually pretty awful when it comes to reading fantasy - sure, I'm a die-hard Lord of the Rings addict and I like fables and fairy tales, and I have a have a few E. Nesbit books, and who hasn't read some Dragonriders? Oh, and Heralds of Valdemar. Lots of those. But otherwise, I've pretty terrible at this fantasy thing, so I'm glad to be caught on a new story. :D
...Oh, right, there's also the five attempts to get through the Wheel of Time. I really like the first three books! I think once I made it to the eighth or ninth! I have no idea what was happening, mind, but it's on the bookshelf! My next attempt will probably happen after I've caught up on The Song of Ice and Fire. Probably.
___
Need to post a few fics before the looming Torchwood S4 premiere. Um, warning for COE-compliance and angst and possible involuntary crying, or so I've been told. I have to get a last grammar check at least before I embarrass myself publicly, and Doctor Who research to finish one last story, and then I'm dumping them all on the internet. *waves hands dramatically*
