My local girl scouts are selling cookies!
...my local girl scouts are selling cookies NOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO WHERE I LIVE. You would think a half-hour walk for cookies wouldn't be so bad, but no. No, it's the worst. It's too far. Don't make me leave the law library, my new home.
I also have no idea why they are not selling near my university. It's nothing but college/grad students, and trust me when I say we have more than our fair share of ridiculously rich students who would think nothing of paying for 20 boxes of Thin Mints.
Which is fine. I don't want Thin Mints. I WANT SAMOAS. And I will set aside grocery money for them. Om nom nom.

Date: Jan. 20th, 2016 23:52 (UTC)Around here, there's a lottery of sorts that determines which troops get first choice of places and times to sell. My daughter's troop picked late one year and ended up stuck at a home improvement store on Valentine's Day because that was the best option that was left. The second cookie booth that year wasn't even in the town where we live. If your troop has a place and time and, for whatever reason, can't sell then, you're SOL and on the hook for all of the cookies you ordered, thinking you'd be able to sell them. This came up last year with a sale in a grocery store parking lot on a day when the temperature went below -20 F with the wind chill. We got lucky, and the store manager let the girls sell inside instead, but he didn't have to.
