Caught up on Miracle Day.
Sep. 9th, 2011 17:30Saw the latest Torchwood episode! So I'm ready for the last episode!
I have to admit, though, that the Holocaust imagery bothered me, if anything, even more in this episode than before. I'm saving it up for my massive post about the Holocaust stuff that I'm probably not going to finish until the series finishes airing, but whoa. *sigh*
BUT LET US IGNORE THAT IN FAVOR OF THIS.
There have been all sorts of theories as to the Big Bad Guy of this season! I personally have been vacillating between The Silence and the The Family (from Doctor Who's Family of Blood. Or the Master.)
But we've finally figured it out! THE MIRACLE WAS CAUSED BY AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD WHO NEVER STOPPED DIGGING HIS WAY TO CHINA. IT TOOK HIM ABOUT 100 YEARS BUT BY GOLLY THAT KID MANAGED TO MAKE IT.
You can try to be as serious as you want, Torchwood, but I will find the camp if it kills me.
I MEAN DUDE. LOOK AT GWEN BE UNDERCOVER BY DRIVING CARS INTO STOREFRONTS.
And did you see Jack's fugitive stubble? LOLOLOL.
Gwen sand the British "Ring Around the Rosie," because THIS. IS. WALES.
Oswald Danes: Because I have a name. I have a name, of a man...
Me: IANTO IS ALIVE, ISN'T HE? HE'S GOING TO SHOW UP DURING THE LAST EPISODE, ISN'T HE??????? *shakes screen*
Oswald: ...the man who created the miracle.
Me: ...oh. Ianto wouldn't be that stupid.
Jilly. Still sexy. Still evil. LOOK AT HER EXPRESSIONS.
And Esther and Ianto need to have a party. In which they discuss being admins in a gun-toting world and they SHINE WITH COMPETENCE. Lois can come too.
Something I like about Torchwood - they always have a research/office person who is important. A lot of action shows tend to marginalize those sorts of characters, but it seems like Torchwood just keeps promoting them. :D
Gwen: I will travel the whole bloody world to put this right.
Me: CONTACT MARTHA. SHE HAS EXPERIENCE.
After con, I've been thinking back to my crazy ~*FEELINGS*~ before Miracle Day began. I had a chat with one man in line about how he felt fine with Children of Earth...as the finale of Torchwood. It essentially killed off everything that was Torchwood, and as an ending it was fine. I thought that the way it left us with such an open ending was perfect, because I was able to figure out where I wanted it to go from there based on my understanding of the characters. (And I haven't read anyone else writing what I thought so far, so I guess that worked.) And I'm watching Miracle Day, and I'm enjoying it, but I think that, yeah. Children of Earth worked quite well as a capstone, in a way that Miracle Day doesn't. And maybe Miracle Day is really the start of a new series, and shouldn't be evaluated that way. I'm just pondering on it again, and hopefully I'll be able to collect my thoughts once this is over and we see where it's, y'know, going.

UNRELATED BREAKING NEWS: ISAIAH MUSTAFA IS GOING TO BE IN CHARLIE'S ANGELS. I don't even want to watch that show, but! Isaiah! Mustafa! *flail*
