So.
I'm back in London, but as this is my last week in the UK, I've been running around town instead of doing things like post/comment/sleep.
That said, guess what I'm doing on my last Sunday?
Wales Comic Con.
Yep. I fully admit that a good 95% of the reason I'm going is to meet/see Gareth David-Lloyd. Which is funny, because I'll hopefully see him again at Dragon*con, but WCC is much, much smaller, and my odds of talking to him are far better. (Plus, Comic Con. How could I not?)
The problem being that I will most definitely make a fool of myself. I can't meet celebrities. I just can't not be awkward about it. I was once in the same room as Jeff Loeb and I froze until he passed me. I met Tom Siddell (writer of Gunnerkrigg Court) and he probably still remembers me as "the awkward American who babbled and was clearly a creepy weirdo." I even planned on what to say to him. Epic Fail.
Celebrities don't have to be big to be awkward-inducing. GDL is no, I don't know, Leonard Nimoy. Or even David Tennant, really. (I told
fiwen1010 that if I ever bump into John Barrowman on the street, I will request his permission to faint at his feet before doing so. Awkward? Yes.) Really, if I meet a few of the people I follow online (
copperbadge comes to mind, actually) I would probably stammer and be awkward just as much.
Still, I'm probably not going to buy a photo with him, but I want him to sign the Torchwood comic he wrote. I specifically brought the issues with me so I could try to get him to sign them, so at some point we're probably going to be face-to-face.
AND I WILL BABBLE LIKE A LOON. OR JUST GAPE. *buries face in hands*
Man, how do people do these things and stay cool? Some fans have met him multiple times and are all suave and such. I want to say something, just not, well, the wrong things.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
pocky_slash. MAY THIS YEAR BRING YOU MUCH HAPPINESS AND ALSO CAKE. *releases rainbow of balloons in celebration*
