Jan. 12th, 2012 18:18The guy who produces the music for Akira came to talk to our class yesterday.
AKIRA.
AKIRA.
O.O
He also worked on Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop and some other stuff that was all extremely cool, but I HAVE THE AKIRA SOUNDTRACK ON MY IPOD.
AAAKIIIRAAAA.
He was giving us a lecture on the history of the anime industry, which instead turned into five hours of anime clips and me grinning ear-to-ear. I forgot how much I loved anime back when I was crazy for it. We got to see the opener for a show that won't premiere until Sunday! We got to watch an anime in the style of Powerpuff Girls that will never make it to the United States! (For good reason. The characters are named Panty and Stocking...)
I also managed to get to a manga shop and pick up an issue of Newtype and a volume of Hanayume. Not that I'll be able to understand anything, mind you. My only real goal now is to see if I can find some old volumes of Swan, because if I don't find them here I'll never know how it ends
I would settle for some Digimon merchandise. If there's one place in the world I can relive my childhood, it's here.
Digimon ADVENTURE. None of that new rubbish.
