When I heard that Iron Fist was going to be the fourth Marvel/Netflix series (after Luke Cage OMG guys Luke Cage) I literally only had one reaction: They have to cast a Chinese man for Danny or it's going to be racist. I mean, in a pinch, they could cast a Pacific Asian actor and it would be slightly racist. But they obviously, obviously, couldn't cast a white guy, right?
*sigh
I think the worst part of that article is the comments section. I thought it was a well-written, clear critique of the problem of casting a white Iron Fist. And the comments exploded into indignant fan rage. Then I remember why I've never gotten very far into the organized comic books fandom.
I guess Marvel should have made an Ultimate Iron Fist first, huh?
What? Me? Bitter?

I am also nine episodes into Jessica Jones and there is more packed into a single episode than you can get in a dozen episodes of a normal show. Wow. I suspect the flexibility of the format lends itself to some tight storytelling, but also the creative team deserves major kudos.
Still loving Luke Cage. Jessica is so, so, so messed up. EVERYONE is so messed up. I keep wanting to mutter "There are eight million stories in the naked city" anytime another character gets fleshed out.
Although I'm...not totally sure that the abortion scene is accurate. I don't have any personal experience on this one, but this page seems to indicate that it's highly exaggerated. As was the magic detox scene, but that one is (slightly) less politicized, so.
It's nice going into this one knowing very little about Jessica Jones. I mean, I'm a fan of Patsy Walker, but that's because I'm a fan of old romance comics and I'm rooting for Marvel to release cheap collections so I can collect them and laugh a lot. Otherwise, I've only got passing knowledge of all the characters, so I have no idea what's possibly coming. It's great.
