UGH.

I just recommended the DC Animated Universe to some friends over the weekend and then I turn on my computer to see that The Killing Joke animated movie actually made the story worse???

WORSE?

DC, your animated movie slate is frankly disappointing. You give us this drek instead of a potential Batgirl: Year One film? And frankly, I'll believe the Judas Contract movie is coming when I see it. I have been waiting, gosh, since the second NYCC when it was first announced?

Luckily, I think nothing will dampen my wild and irrational enthusiasm for the Wonder Woman movie. Note the irrationality. *clings*

The problem with Judas Contract is that they are likely to plug the current Titans (Damian as Robin, etc) into the roles of the storyline... and it doesn't work for me that way. At all.

And I have been against the entire concept of TKJ being made at all, so not even touching that with a ten-foot pole.

Noooo, I want an animated adaptation of Dick in the plunging neckline and the feathers! It's a fantastic story and it's frustrating because I have seen the DC Animated movies done well. You know, in the past. Time to go see if I can dig the comic out and exclaim on how it would make for a great movie.

I was, honestly, neutral on the TKJ movie. It's not a surprise that they pick a popular, well-known stand alone comic for adaptation. I would have been disappointing if they had made no moves to address the major problems in the story, but kinda...generally disappointed, I guess? I just don't have very high expectations for media companies in general. But come on, this was just gratuitously much, much worse.
