Dear everyone,

I am currently putting out Torchwood fanfic that is not everyone's cup of tea, to put it delicately. If you don't want to read them...please don't. I'm doing my best to clearly mark them to warn people off, and I will be tagging all of them with "felt like the end" and LJ has this nifty feature where you can unsubscribe to a specific tag. I am honestly totally fine with that, not offended, want you to be happy. I don't read every fic out there, not even all the ones written by friends, and it doesn't stop me from loving you all. Hell, [personal profile] iceshade isn't planning on touching any of them with a ten-foot pole and blindfolds, I believe, and she's one of my BFFs.

I'm also cutting every post related to MD in the future. It's my journal, obviously, but I have tons of fandoms, and if New Torchwood and Old Torchwood are going to become two different groups, I can respect that.

NOW FOR THE HAPPY STUFF.

I finally just saw Thor. First of all, the theater was wicked cheap because we bought tickets to the first showing of the day. I love when that happens.

I'm actually pretty happy with the women representation in this one. Three strong, distinctive characters and even Frigga got a moment to shine. And I'm a big Natalie Portman fan.

I liked Loki, and I understand that he's a fan favorite, but I'll he honest -- I didn't think his story made a lot of sense. His driving purpose and motivation were never made especially clear. A lot of of it, I can forgive based on the fact that we knew he's a tricksy sort and he just experienced an enormous shock and I'm not sure even he knew what he wanted. But even at the end, his "dying" words didn't really make any sense in context.

Thor was adorable. Big grin, big hero, confident. I really liked how they handled the whole "olde English" thing for him, although his accent was NOT NORSE. Nothing was Norse, nowhere. They semi-explained it -- the Norse people just happened to be the ones that saw Odin's army and so they were the ones to revere them as gods, but I would have liked a little more, not gonna lie. (I did blank out on the word Norse at the beginning of the film, and invented the term "Norwish." This became a running joke very quickly.)

Overall I enjoyed it. Can't beat X-Men: First Class on the Summer '11 Geek Movie List, but we're off to a fantastic start! :D

Theory! Avengers movie is going to have a significant portion in which Jane develops how to get Thor back, and they get him to fight Loki and SAVE THE WORLD. Or Loki teams up with whatever larger bad guy they choose. Either way, getting Thor is going to be important. (Especially now with the new Cap trailer that reveals him being uncovered in ice. If that isn't going to be used to ground Avengers, it must be Thor.
